So last night we were roaming around without a purpose, kinda like most Saturday nights. We ended up going to see the wrong band, but decided we would risk paying a 2nd cover charge to go see one of our favorite bands British Invasion. Liz & I always end up talking to the lead singer. Its usually about Pink Floyd (my fav band) or Led Zeppelin (her fav band). First he told us about a really cool Floyd concert his missed in Pittsburgh Civic Arena. He said he had 13 tickets but his old band had a important gig that he couldn't miss so he didn't go to the concert. His friends told him about it. He said how the place was just filled with smoke. While they were playing they opened the roof of the Civic Arena. You could see all the smoke rise up through the roof just as the lyrics hit "Breathe, breathe in the air"
The next story was about the first time he listened to Stairway to Heaven backwards. It would have been much cooler to of heard the story the night before since it was Halloween, but I guess its almost as cool since Nov 1st is The Day of the Dead.
If theres a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now,
Its just a spring clean for the may queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
Theres still time to change the road you're on.
He said they got so freaked out they turned it off right away. He said what was even freakier was when they recorded him singing those lines and when they listened to that in reverse it said the same things. Here is a site that list some songs that may have been
backmastered so you can hear for yourself. Some of the songs were definitely done intentionally, but some of them could just be a strange coincidence. I also found a youtube video that is a must see, it had me in tears laughing. Its someones opinion on what the
Eagles - Hotel California says when you listen to it backwards.
On a side note to backmastering..... The picture above I took a little over 3 months ago. Its a reflection in a mirror. I though it would go well with the whole backward theme of this blog.
On a unrelated note, as was on my way home I heard a song that I haven't heard in a while and it didn't me to do you what do you when did it what do!
:)
Ahhhhh the Irony / Snacks in the Headlights!
