Margaritaville

This Picture of me & my sisster was taken on Saturday, March 24, 2007, 2:46:18 AM

Nibblin' on sponge cake
Watchin' the sun bake
All of those tourists covered in oil
Strummin' my six-string
On my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp hey they're beginnin' to boil

Wasted away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame
But i know it's nobody's fault

I don't know the reason
I stayed here all season
Nothin' to show but this brand new Nipple Piercing
But it's a real beauty
A mexican cutie
How it got here i haven't a clue

Wasted away again in margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame
Now i think
Must be buffet's fault

I blew out my flip-flop
Stepped on a pop-top
Broke my leg twice i had to limp on back home
But there's booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on

Wasted away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame
But i know this is all RANDY's fault :)

Yes and some people claim that there's a woman to blame
And i know it's my own damn fault

12:43 AM

7:38 PM - The phone rings. I'm woofing down the last little bit of the bacon sandwich I just made. This isn't my regular diet, but last weekend, for Christmas, I got a cast iron skillet. The thing about cast iron is you have to season it. My sister picked it out because I always talk about my wok, I love to cook in my wok, it needs to be seasoned to. Back to the bacon, one of the recommendations is that after the initial seasoning you cook fatty foods, like bacon. That helps season it. For those of you who don't know how to season a wok or a cast iron skillet, its awesome. Just do a search on the internet, buy one and you wont want to cook in anything else. Both are old fashioned, and even ancient, but if done right, work better than any Teflon coated pan, plus you don't have to worry about the coating flaking off in you food and giving you Alzheimer's. OK, the phone is ringing, its Matt & Liz. I'm supposed to stay at home tonight and get some stuff done around here. I have a lot to do this week, its been a stressful week. "Were at Chilli's, want to join us for a Margarita?" Hell! That's the thing about friends, they always know your weakness. Its not really peer pressure if want to be talked into it.

I remember back in Youngstown. I went to school in the afternoon. My best friend Ed went during the day. If it was nice out he would always talk me into going to the park to goof off. He knew just what to say. "Skip". Now it wasn't really that simple to get me to blow off class. He actually had to say it 3 or 4 times before i would break down and agree. Either that or my friend Tom would buy some beer on our way home from work, then both him and ed would talk me into having fun.

If you want to hear a really funny story, ask me in person to tell you about the time Brett talked me into the school bus incident. The only reason I still find that story super hilarious is because at the time I was wearing a shirt & tie. I guess it just cracks me up because the last person you expect to moon you would be a guy in a tie. Anything for a laugh.

Oh by the way, have you heard my new Myspace song? Its Punkrocker by the Teddybears. Again, Matt & Liz shut the hell up :) I'm just relating to that song at the moment. Or maybe it should be Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone. Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil. Na, probably not. I cant be a rolling stone. I have been known to gather a little moss now & then. I just like to shake it off and shake things up once in a while. You have to keep life fresh & exciting, even if once and a while you change to a slower pace.

12:43 AM - I walk in the door. I could have been home a lot later (or earlier), but despite the self induced peer pressure, I have responsibilities tomorrow. I suppose. Its all good though. I have always said that age doesn't bother me. It doesn't make me feel old as long as i have more fun than i did the previous year. So far, with the exception of a year or two, I have always managed to stay at 25 or maybe even a year or two younger. I work a part time job at Victoria's Secret, how much fun is that. Don't ask where I've been for the last 2 hours since I left Matt & Liz but my restless soul asked about another part time job. Now I'm here, laying in bed, writing this blog, & hitting refresh on my myspace page so I can listen to my song over & over. Punkrocker, Rolling Stone, home body, Teddybear? Ya, thats me :) Variety is the spice of life. Now its 2:02 am. Its time for sleep and looking forward to a well deserved Friday in Margaritaville :)

Irish Blessing

Wishing you the luck of the Irish on this St Patrick's Day!

An Old Irish Blessing

"May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Eso Ehh

This is it! My new ride! :)
Well at least my ride to Pittsburgh a few weekends ago. It was still sweet though. My good friend Matt works for a rental car place and once in a while he gets to take some of the vehicles out. So we decided that this weekend we were gonna get a Hummer H2 and go to the Burg. Now, I'm sure you wondering what we drove all the way to Pittsburgh for........ Mexican food & margaritas of course. Plus a side trip to get some coffee.

What? You gotta be outta your mind, is what your probably thinking. All the way to Pittsburgh for Mexican food......That must be one hell of a Mexican restaurant. Well ya it is. ANYONE that knows me well knows that I go to El Campesino in Altoona almost every weekend. Which is where I met my friends Matt & his wife Liz. So this weekend we decided we would try something a little different. We went to the El Campesino in Pittsburgh instead of the one in Altoona. Actually there is more to it than that. I was friends with Jose, the guy who used to manage the restaurant in Altoona. Now he runs one in Pittsburgh. Matt & Liz had never met him so we decided to go on a road trip.

I was just excited to drive the Hummer. It was awesome. Now for the scary part of our road trip. Flash back a couple months ago........
I have a friend Leanne who lives in State College. A few months ago she called and asked me to come help her out with a situation. So I got up extra early and went to help out. She cooked breakfast for her mom & me while we were waiting. Everything was vegetarian and very good. I was a little leery about the vegy bacon though. It even had some coloring in it to make it look like it had some bacon fat in it. It really just looked like a dog biscuit. Even though it was not offensive to the taste buds, I was not a fan. There is just something morally wrong with vegetarian bacon. The important part of this section of the story is the coffee, not the bacon. Now I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I am trying to be. I'm trying to be more of a morning person. Leanne had some coffee she got when she lived in LA. She had been using it sparingly since there were not any stores around here that sold it, but she still shared some with us. It was very good coffee and I could drink it without sugar or cream. The store she got it from is called Trader Joe's. They just happened to have one in Pittsburgh, so I figured we could stop and get some. Leanne was invited to go along but wasn't feeling well, so I figured it would be a nice surprise.

The problem was that I didn't know what part of Pittsburgh this particular store happened to be in. So I got the address off the internet, printed out some map quest directions and we were on our way. When we got off the exit, Wilkensburg I think it was, everything seemed ok at first. The first sign that something was wrong was when Matt said "UH OH, I thought this road sounded familiar". Apparently a few months before one of the rental cars was stolen. We just happened to pass the place where they found it, full of bullet holes. All of a sudden the neighborhood got really scary. There was a shady looking character on every street corner. They guy with the fur coat made it obvious that these people were selling drugs and not just hanging out on the street corner on a cold Saturday afternoon. Ya, this is not good. Two crackers and a little latina chick driving through the ghetto in a $65,000 Hummer. I was driving and Matt kept looking around anxiously. He asked me if I was packing, but unfortunately I left it at home that day. Not smart. I was sure we were gonna get car jacked............. and was hoping they just thought we were dealing to.

Not only did we survive, but we had so much fun that we decided to go back the next weekend with Randy & Sue. This time to the brand new El Campesino in the Robinson Town Center. For some reason Matt didn't let me drive this time. I was prepared this time, and even though we didn't end up in any shady places I had to threaten my mother. I was originally supposed to go up to visit that day, but called to tell her I wouldn't be up till Sunday. She was already in the Pittsburgh area with Heather, so they met us for lunch. Have you ever seen those Friars Club Celebrity Roast. You know the ones, where they have a guest of honor and all everyone does is make fun of that person! Well some how that ended up being me. My mom decided to tell every embarrassing story about me, from the day I was brought home from the hospital till the age of 6. That's all I heard the rest of the day, till we got back to Altoona at 1am. Not fun. If she never gets to meet another girl I date than I hope she thinks back to this day. It was funny though, even though it was very embarrassing.

Fortunately mom left after lunch :) The rest of us walked around Ikea then decided to go see Jose at the restaurant in South Hills for dinner & more Margaritas. :) Good Times!
